May The Road Rise Up To Meet You

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face;
the rains fall soft upon your fields and until we meet again,
may God hold you in the palm of His hand.

  1. How do we know it's a Gaelic blessing when it's in Inglis.

    1. Go n-éirí an bóthar leat.
      Go raibh an chóir ghaoithe i gcónaí leat.
      Go dtaitní an ghrian go bog bláth ar do chlár éadain,
      go gcuire an bháisteach go bog mín ar do ghoirt.
      Agus go gcasfar le chéile sinn arís,
      go gcoinní Dia i mbosa a láimhe thú.

      (apologies for the spelling)

  2. Well done but I did put the first line into google as it vaguely looked like another Scottish greeting.

    "awa an bile yer heid"
