Off to Applecross in Wester Ross this weekend for a few days away. As it's been raining almost non-stop since the beginning of the month I predict that we will encounter the dreaded Highland Midge, scourge of all who venture out during the hours of daylight (and of darkness, too).
I guess that we'll just have to shelter in the pub all weekend. Shame!
My good lady has provided me with a bottle of "Skin So Soft" which she claims keeps them away - but this could be a cruel joke. I like the line from Para Handy that they "would bite through corrugated iron roofs to get at ye"
