Winter Camping

Some photos taken at a winter camp somewhere in Yorkshire a good few years ago. Yes, we were younger and tougher then and did this sort of thing for fun!

  1. Mike,

What great photographs - the things we did for fun indeed! Well not me - I was never brave enough for the winter rally. In the top picture I recognise the sadly late Mark Dicker (left of the hairy dude) and I was sure Malcolm Oram on the right - but he says no. He asks where and when this was taken - I know it's not Dent or Masham.

    1. Some time in the mid-1990s, but unfortunately I can't remember where exactly. An alternative to the winter rally at Dent which had put their prices up much to Mark's annoyance.

  2. I am/was that hairy dude! The blue 301 in the 3rd picture is mine. I seem to remember that was the rally I found someone else asleep in my tent when I finally gave up for the night! Still miss Chairman Dicker.

    1. You are "Hairy Neil" and I claim my prize!
I think I visited your house once with Mark to look at a cellar full of decrepit old soviet-era bikes. I seem to remember a Reliant Robin in the garden, too.

    2. The very same! The Reliant has gone, now replaced by a selection of 2CVs. The bikes have multiplied to the stage I have a container full of em in Leeds!
Would it be OK for me to nick your photos and put them on FB? I know there's a few friends of MARKs who would like to see them

    3. Feel free to use the photos. Maybe they will jog someone's memory and they can tell us where and when they were taken.
