Sidecar Dogs

SIT STAY RIDE
poster by lorenzo eroticolor for the documentary film of the same name.

Across America, there are dogs of all breeds riding in the open air of motorcycle sidecars, whether on short trips around town or extended adventures on the highway. Sit Stay Ride: The Story of America’s Sidecar Dogs is a delightful and inspiring documentary film about motorcyclists and their beloved canine co-pilots.

Wild Wild East

During the week someone at work mentioned a western themed town built in a side street in Edinburgh. Curious, I went for a look on Saturday morning.

Sure enough, tucked away up a lane not far from the main road you come across what looks like a set from a western, with a livery stable, jail, cantina etc. I was a bit disappointed to see that the saloon has gone, all that remains is a blackened wall right at the far end of the alley.

It's obviously seen better times, and is beginning to fall apart, which is a shame as it's certainly extremely unusua and deserves better.

There's a fairly decent review here which explains what it's doing there, as well as some photos from when the whole place was in better condition.

Rocky Road

This is as unusual a Statue/Roundabout of the Week entry as I think we'll get.

I spotted the statue below while on holiday in New Zealand a couple of years ago. We had stopped in the town of Hamilton for lunch, and afterwards we went for a bit of a wander around. The statue does rather grab your attention, as it’s not often you’ll see a life-size one of a bloke in tights with a ray gun. At least, not where I come from.

An explanation

If you’re familiar with the Rocky Horror Picture Show you’ll find it rather amusing. If not, this might be a bit too disturbing and you might want to look away now.

Too late! That's you been corrupted now as well.

Perhaps he got some of his ideas for the costumes from walking to work as we passed a row of sex shops about half a block from the statue. I was rather taken with this one below.
