Under False Colours

Soviet -built Dnepr M72 side-valve, a direct copy of BMW R71, done up in a German army colour scheme and sporting a BMW roundel on the tank for some reason. 

The big give away was the KMZ badge and the “Made in the USSR” cast into the timing cover.

Walk/Don't Walk

When we were in France for the Coupes Moto Legende in Dijon this summer the town was in the process of installing a tram network.

I was particularly taken with the newly  installed signs we came across.

The one on the left is the usual “Walk/Don’t Walk” sign.

The one on the right is, “DON’T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT WALKING HERE, THERE’S A TRAM COMING!”

"They don’t pay me enough to ride that thing."

Spotted at the Coupes Moto Legende this summer. The Yamaha TZ750 which was ridden by American Kenny Roberts before the AMA banned it for being too powerful/dangerous. There's the full story of the machine here.

Streamliner

An old BMW complete with dustbin fairing and panniers that I spotted at the Coupe Moto Legende in Dijon this summer.

Everyone's New Favourite Bike

Spotted at The Coupes Moto Legendes in Dijon recently, these cool art-deco machines are from the French manufacturer Majestic.

I still think that they look a bit like a Basking Shark from the front.

French Triple

 

This week’s bike is a 1974 350cc two-stroke triple from French manufacturer Motobecane / Motoconfort. The bikes were apparently badged as both marques, although there appears to only have been limited numbers produced due to the high purchase price when new.

The two yellow machines above were spotted at Coupes Moto Legende last month. The nearest one is a Motobecane, the other a Motoconfort.
