Get Serious

Parallel Twin Indian

Not For The School-Run

Rockin'

I hadn’t listened to this album in absolutely ages. Status Quo get a hard time of it, but this is from the period when they actually played decent music.

Status Quo: Live at Glasgow Apollo (1976)
In the good old days, when music came on vinyl and an album with a gatefold sleeve was really something to behold, this particular album was on constant rotation. So much so that it got scratched up quite badly, but not enough to stop me listening to it.

I actually miss the crackles and hisses now that I have it on CD.

Change For The Better

This is the Triumph parked up opposite the former PSNI (Police Service Northern Ireland) Station in Belcoo, County Fermanagh, in Northern Ireland.

Belcoo is on the border with the Irish Republic, in 'Bandit Country'. This was a typical heavily fortified Border Police Station built during the 1970s, with blast walls and high security fencing against mortars etc.

I was on the way to a rally in Garrison, which is just up the road, and stopped because I noticed that the station was closed.

I think that it’s a good sign that they feel that they can do without something like this, and I hope that the need for it never arises again.

Like a Bullet

A friend from the Netherlands sent me some photos of his new bike, a pristine 2010 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 Electra EFI with only 2800 miles on the clock.

Owner's Manual
He bought it in the UK, picked it up and  and then rode it home via Dover.

Aftermath

Despite the gales affecting most of the country yesterday, we were relatively unaffected where I live. The best that the local papers could come up with today was a picture of two girls with their hair blowing about a bit. Hardly the promised armageddon.

However, other parts of the country had trees blown down, houses and cars damaged, major disruptions on the roads and even a wind-turbine catching fire. One girl at my work took over six hours to make her normal 40 minute journey home as a lorry had been blown over on the motorway blocking the carriageway.

Anyway, I had a pleasant evening in front of the fire, and I found out today that they have decided to pay us for the lost half day after all. Definitely a result as far as I'm concerned.
